A technology for long-term storage of nuclear waste is being discussed at the European level. During the parliamentary control session in the Bulgarian Parliament today, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov pointed out that Bulgaria is discussing possible options with other countries.

Denkov pointed out that "in the coming weeks, months, no change in the regime is foreseen compared to the one that was years ago, including when we had better diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, and then with the Russian Federation. The decision on how to proceed with the temporary storage of the waste, as it has been for all the years since the creation of the Bulgarian nuclear power plant, will be taken when it becomes clear what the long-term decision for their storage will be, Denkov also pointed out.
