The St. Anastasia tourist island complex near Burgas, one of Bulgaria’s most visited Black Sea tourist destinations, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. That is why the tourist season begins early this year – its official opening is on Monday, 6 May, with a symbolic “Easter dive” by the scuba divers from the “Friends of the sea” association. The celebrations will continue with music on the beach, baking mussels on a tin, and the traditional island beer.
The highlight in the programme is an exhibition of icons which opened on the island on 1 May. “They are on display in the antechamber of the island church and will be a new highlight this summer,” Pavlin Dimitrov, governor of the tourist complex said for BNR-Varna.
The icons are by the artists from Burgas Toshko Vachev and Janeta Ruseva. The cultural programme on 4 May also features plays, concerts and other interesting events.
