Bulgaria's Caretaker Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov suspects attempts of Russian interference in the elections for the Bulgarian and European parliaments on June 9 this year.

"The Kremlin's goal right now is to directly influence the upcoming elections," he said on the first day of the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which takes place in Sofia from today to May 27. The Bulgarian minister is a spokesman for the Defence and Security Committee.

"Bulgaria is a target of Russia's hybrid aggression, we are in the focus of active processes and disinformation campaigns trying to influence our domestic political processes," Atanas Zapryanov said. In his words, Bulgaria is prepared for such actions and is extremely careful.
