Daily Mail Online published a letter from former teacher Simon Hill under the title “I’m living the Bulgarian retirement dream”. The retiree and his wife own two properties in Bulgaria. They get better healthcare, enjoy hot summers and ski in the winter and all for an incredibly low cost of living. ''My wife Irena and I have always moved around a great deal due to my job as a teacher'', Simon Hill writes.
After his retirement in 2005, Simon and his wife settled near the town of Elena and bought an apartment in Veliko Tarnovo, where they live in the winter. They are happy with their life in Bulgaria, where they have new friends and have the opportunity to welcome guests from abroad. "My wife and I love our lives in Bulgaria. Here, life is simple, easy and affordable. I would never consider moving back to the UK", says Simon Hill, quoted by the BNR’s correspondent in London Veselin Paunov.
