Taxi drivers in Sofia started their protest rally against raising the price of the mandatory civil liability insurance with smoke and honking. In the coming hours, they will demonstrate their dissatisfaction in front of all state institutions.

"We want a moratorium on the price of the mandatory civil liability insurance until a clear legal mechanism is developed for the introduction of the bonus-malus system and assessment of the risk of each driver based on individual performance," said Krasimir Tsvetkov, chairman of the National Taxi Union. According to him, the insurance premium has risen brutally - from 300 to 1,100 percent.

Protests will be held throughout the country, including along the Trakia motorway.
