The District Prosecutor's Office in Stara Zagora is investigating the death of Todor Slavkov, grandson of the late communist dictator Todor Zhivkov.

At 16:49 last night, the emergency number 112 received a call reporting the death of 54-year-old Todor Slavkov in a guest house in the village of Asen, near Kazanlak. According to the evidence gathered so far, it appears to be a case of suicide. There are no signs of foul play.

It has been established that Slavkov legally owned a firearm — a revolver. He had been staying at the guest house for about two weeks. He was alone the entire time. Todor Slavkov killed himself on the anniversary of his mother Lyudmila Zhivkova's death.
