Ahmed Dogan has announced the upcoming creation of a new political project, which will be "the successor to the historical mission of the DPS - to protect the rights of minorities and every Bulgarian citizen, to participate in real politics, to guarantee ethnic peace and the state sovereignty of Bulgaria". The former honorary chairman of the party announced this in an address to his supporters in Facebook.
He indicated that within three months, several councils will be held to create the new formation. During this period, the party's leadership will be taken over by a Chairman's Council under Ahmed Dogan, headed by MEP Ilhan Ilhan Kyuchyuk. In his address, Dogan stated that the DPS has been hijacked and taken over from within. "The person Delyan Peevski, without political legitimacy, without ideological consistency and with deep dependencies, managed to take control of the party's leadership through methods that have nothing to do with democracy - threats, pressure, dependencies, control of institutions and abuse of power," Dogan's address reads.
