At a briefing in the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov pointed out that "the information mess surrounding the incident with Ursula von der Leyen's plane is part of the large hybrid information attack of the opposition parties," BNT reported. Today, Zhelyazkov was heard in the National Assembly, at the request of the PP-DB, where he announced that in the case of the EC President's plane, we are talking about interference that "is due to interference in the radio frequency spectrum due to satellite interference systems located in Crimea and the way in which the Russian Federation is waging its radio electronic war with Ukraine, but as a result of which all countries from Finland to Libya are suffering".

According to Zhelyazkov, on August 31, 54 interferences were registered on Bulgarian territory and they have been every day since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

On behalf of the EC, Commission spokesperson Arianna Podesta stressed that this was not an isolated case and there have been many reports of GPS signal jamming, especially on the EU's eastern borders, since the start of hostilities in Ukraine.

Podesta did not confirm the Financial Times' reports that the plane had circled over Plovdiv for an hour before landing, and that the pilots had used paper navigation maps.
