For the 2025/2026 academic year, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Italy and Spain are among the most popular countries for higher education among Bulgarian university applicants, said Nikolay Hristanov, Consultant at INTEGRAL Educational Programmes, at a media event for the autumn edition of the World Education Fair. According to the cited data, 27% of all newly enrolled students have chosen the Netherlands, followed by Austria (12%), Spain (11%), Germany (9%) and Italy (9%). The United Kingdom attracts only 8% of the applicants, reported BTA.
Bulgarian students continue to show the strongest interest in business and management, computer technologies, economics and engineering. At the same time, interest is growing in creative disciplines and programs related to innovation and technology—artificial intelligence, digital media and robotics.
