After 01.00 on January 22, Unit 5 of Kozloduy NPP was disconnected from the country's energy system. The reason is the activation of protection system during routine operations. There is no deviation from the normal radiation situation, the nuclear power plant reported. There is no leakage of radiation and reason for concerns, the chairman of the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency Tsanko Bachiyski has told BNR's Horizont program.

He expects the unit to start operating by the end of the day. Load of hydroelectric and thermal power plants has been increased to compensate for the electricity of the unit. There is no need to import electricity, as currently domestic consumption is not high, the electricity system operator added.
